The other companies use Qi open interface standard which is developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) for inductive charging. These types of wireless charging can charge from the distance of four centimeters (1.6 inches) only. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge have this feature.
According to the report from Fast Company, Apple has ambitious plans for its 10th anniversary. Apple has struck a deal with a company Energous. The bread and better of Energous is developing wireless charging technologies.
Moreover, the Energous company has developed a wireless charging solution which is capable of charging from the distance of 15 feet; that is four meters.
The technology is far more advanced than the other wireless charging technologies you may already be familiar with them.
Apple supplier Dialog Semiconductor made a $10 million investment recently in Energous. The company, Energous is prominent for its wireless charging technologies.
After this deal, the Energous technology will be sold under the Dialog Semiconductor brand as said by the Energous chief executive officer (CEO) Steve Rizzone.
So, it will be great to see if Apple comes up wireless charging feature next year in 2017. The concept of wireless charging is not new, different smartphone companies are making it, but you have placed it on some device, or you can charge from the distance of more than four centimeters.
