The latest report claiming that Apple has over 1000 engineers currently working on the augmented reality-related project. The report published in UBS suggest that Apple to bring augmented reality in iPhone 8 and we have also witness Tim Cook speaking about the augmented reality earlier this year. So this feature would not be any huge surprise for Apple enthusiasts.
Apple To Bring Augmented Reality In iPhone 8
Now if Apple comes with the AR technology then they will in competition with Google Tango enabled smartphones, such as Asus ZenFone AR and Lenovo Phab 2 Pro. Apple should have to come with superior experience if they want to beat the competitors.
There are three pieces of evidence provided by the UBS to back up their claim:
- Apple has acquired a few augmented reality start-ups such as Real Face, Prime Sense, and Metaio.
- The rear dual lens camera of the iPhone 7 Plus potentially understand depth by using the parallax effect, which helps superimpose objects.
- Tim Cook has shown his interest in augmented reality several times before. He also thinks that AR has more potential than VR.
However, his thoughts on AR several times have not official confirmation. The analyst Steven Milunovich thinks about the report that uncharacteristically, Apple has broken the silence on upcoming products with regards to AR.
We have also heard previously through rumors that iPhone 8 could use AR which will be built into the native camera iOS app. So, after putting the AR into the camera app could let your iPhone recognize the people or even objects. Somewhat similarly like iOS 10 recognizes faces.
Apart from Apple many companies are trying to bring and introduce AR in their smartphones for their consumers. It will be intriguing if Apple comes up with AR in the upcoming iPhone 8 but we have to wait for that until third quarter of 2017.
