If you have spent enough time with your iPhone 7, and now wondering what would be the next big thing to feature in iPhone 8. Then you are not alone because everyone is anxiously waiting for it. We heard news about Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display and wireless charging. We might witness both of these amazing features in iPhone 8. However, the latest news appearing on the internet is suggesting that Apple will use facial recognition in iPhone 8 by ditching the home button as per the report by Apple Insider.
Apple Will Use Facial Recognition in iPhone 8 Instead Of Home Button
In a newly patent filed application, Apple reveals that facial recognition may unlock and lock your iPhone 8. According to the report, iPhone 8 will not have the home button. Apple plans to run iPhone 8 on the touch sensor. It will vanish the need of a physical home button. You just have to press the glass casing itself to use the apps.
It all will happen through the help of facial recognition software. As we mentioned above, the company has already filed a patent last week at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The note by Apple Insiders says: “The basic idea of the patent is that iPhone uses the front facing camera to recognize and detect the user’s face. It also unlocks the device if it belongs to the device owner.
Another interesting thing, if the iPhone is motionless for a period of time and camera cannot see the owner or the authorized user. Then it will be locked automatically.
However, there is also a drawback, if the iPhone is moving and the facial recognition feature recognizes the user’s face. Then it will be unlocked without any Touch ID or PIN.
